We recently completed a 9 day self-drive tour of Vancouver Island with Far Out Wilderness, and the experience exceeded all our expectations. From start to finish, everything was thoughtfully planned, seamless, and incredibly well organized.

The itinerary took us through some of the island’s most stunning and less-traveled areas, giving us the perfect balance of adventure, comfort, and natural beauty. The Toyota Tundra vehicle provided was reliable and well-equipped for the terrain, and the camping gear was top-notch and easy to set up.

We were given a demonstration of the roof tent upon arrival. It was incredibly easy to set up and extremely comfortable to sleep in.

What really stood out was the level of detail in the trip planning—Far Out Wilderness provided a custom route, helpful local insights, and excellent recommendations for hikes, scenic stops, and places to eat. It felt like we were getting insider tips every step of the way.

We appreciated the company’s emphasis on responsible travel and low-impact exploration. Their love for Vancouver Island‘s wilderness shines through in everything they do.

Sam and Abbie were incredibly responsive and went above and beyond to help with our trip.  We highly recommended for anyone looking to experience the wild beauty of Vancouver Island in a truly immersive and stress-free way. We’ll definitely be booking with them again for future adventures.

Awesome experience. And such a cool set up. We happened to head out during an atmospheric river, and it was still grand! Sam and Abbie thought of everything and were so kind and caring throughout. I’m so looking forward to heading out again, even further afield, with their support.

This rental service is incredible!

My husband and I just returned from a trip to Vancouver Island and we LOVED this vehicle rental!! The tent was quality, never leaking even once despite the days of rain we had.

The kitchen was well stocked with a french press coffee maker, pots, pans, a griddle pan and cutlery. There was even a solar shower bag that they included in case you don’t plan on staying at campgrounds with showers.

Sam was easy to get a hold of and provided so much information to assist us with our adventures.

There were a series of back road map books that helped us significantly when looking for rec sites, Provincial Parks and points of interest.

I highly recommend this rental service!

Unlike most rental car, RV, or van rental agencies, FarOutWilderness allows you to take your rental truck onto dirt/gravel roads, logging roads, or any other unpaved roads! This opens up tons of new options for your BC adventure

 

Is the vehicle insured?2023-07-13T20:41:01-04:00

All vehicles come with ICBC Commercial Renters Auto Insurance. This policy includes $5,000,000 third party liability, comprehensive insurance for fire, theft, vandalism and windshield at a deductible of $500 and collision insurance at a deductible of $1,000.

Driving in British Columbia requires a valid driver’s license If you are a visitor, you can drive in BC for up to six months with a valid driver’s licence from your country. If you have an International Driving Permit, you must also carry the accompanying foreign licence.

Are there flexible payment options?2024-03-25T18:39:00-04:00

A 25% deposit is required at booking, and the full balance must be paid 7 days prior to travel. If weather or other unexpected circumstances interrupt your trip, your booking amount for a future travel credit. Booking terms and conditions.
