About Us FarOut Wilderness

The Family!

Lifetime Adventure Pals

The offspring are threefold, one of the two legged variety and two of the four legged variety. This is the crew that tests all routes, gear and Sam and Abbie’s sanity!

Phoebe as the newest addition, has proven that overland travel IS the way to adventure with little beans.

Roxy and Mav have traveled far and wide,. They bring love to the office laughter to the beach and warmth to the camp fire. As long as you have a warm bed and the ball they’re there.

Harriet Weeks

Lead Operations Coordinator

Harriet’s adventures are second to none on this team! A highlight is her ascent of Cotopaxi in Ecuador in 2015.

Harriet has been on our ops team for several summers, so you’re likely to see her picking up your vehicle! Her career has also spanned event management, youth mental health care, and a local Victoria brewery.

On days off, she’s hiking and enjoying an ice-cold cold brew after (or during) her hike.

Callum Alden

Marketing Coordinator

Vancouver-born, Callum’s spent most of his summers in BC’s backcountry, and has travelled extensively internationally. Highlights include Nepal, the Swiss Alps, Ecuador, and more.

His career spanned sales and marketing roles in tech before joining FarOut. He’s also a freelance opera singer, a regular at Vancouver Opera

On days off, Callum’s probably skiing at Whistler, checking off a new hike on the Sea to Sky, or on a patio enjoying a cold beer.

Sebastien Piementa

Operations Coordinator

A lifetime adventurer, one of Sebastien’s most memorable trips was a backpacking trip across Sri Lanka.

Sebastien has been overlanding since 2018, when he made his first custom off road vehicle. He’s been offroading and camping as much as he can since! With this passion and experience, he was the perfect fit for FarOut’s vision!

You’ll likely see him at a vehicle handover in Vancouver or elsewhere on the mainland this summer

OUR FOUNDERS’ STORY

We are adventurers through and through. In fact, that’s how we met, while we were both adventuring in Africa! We spent close to 10 years in Malawi and travelled extensively but our best trips have always been those that have given us the freedom to explore at our own pace.

Overlanding is commonplace in Southern Africa and being self-reliant isn’t an option in the bush! One of our most memorable trips was a one-way road trip from Malawi through Zambia to Botswana and its on this trip that FarOut Wilderness became the dream.

We’ve always felt most connected when outdoors with the wind in our hair. Nothing beats a BBQ and a few beers at the end of a long day of activity. It’s on these days that we sit around the campfire and put the world to rights. It’s dark, there are no other people around and usually only the stars and the moon to keep us company. If we’ve done it right there’s no cell phone signal!

It’s this that we want to share with you; the sense of adventure, the sense of freedom, to reconnect with nature and to reconnect with each other AND knowing that you can do this in a vehicle that really will go anywhere.

We look forward to planning your next adventure!

Sam & Abbie
