Had a great experience with FarOut and their truck Toyota Tacoma! Sam and Harriet were really nice and flexible with our pick-up and drop-off in downtown Vancouver.

We have done a road trip through Kelowna, Nakusp, Valhalla provincial park, Christina lake and back to Vancouver through Osoyoos. Car was very comfortable and easy to drive even on service roads.

Truck was very well equipped with gas stove, fridge, filtered barrel of water and all the other stuff you need for camping! Tent was very easy to set up and surprisingly big comfortable.

I would highly recommend renting their truck for a road trip in Canada. I will definitely do this again soon!

This rental service is incredible!

My husband and I just returned from a trip to Vancouver Island and we LOVED this vehicle rental!! The tent was quality, never leaking even once despite the days of rain we had.

The kitchen was well stocked with a french press coffee maker, pots, pans, a griddle pan and cutlery. There was even a solar shower bag that they included in case you don’t plan on staying at campgrounds with showers.

Sam was easy to get a hold of and provided so much information to assist us with our adventures.

There were a series of back road map books that helped us significantly when looking for rec sites, Provincial Parks and points of interest.

We had a priceless family camping trip thanks to Sam and Abbie of FarOut. They provided us with helpful suggestions for places to visit and off-the-beaten track rec sites to camp at. Their policies were relaxed enough for us to enjoy planning a real adventure (as opposed to traditional RV rental companies that restrict any off-road travel). This meant we could camp at beautiful spots with hardly anyone else around. Sam and Abbie clearly cared about our safety and enjoyment of the trip. The truck came packed with lots of thoughtful and useful items, so that we weren’t lacking anything in the woods. We slept really comfortably, including with our young child. We highly recommend this company and would love to travel with them again!

FarOut provided the truck for the best weekend ever! Sam and Abbie were very kind to have met up with us in Downtown, Vancouver for the hand off and pick up, and provided everything you would want to have and need for a weekend getaway. Sam did an amazing job giving a run down of the truck and made sure to have answered any questions you may have. Super nice and knowledgeable people!

We spent the weekend up at a local lake, and the Tacoma (coined Roxanne) performed so well on the forest service road on our way up there, it such a breeze. The tent was nice and easy to set up, and super comfortable – only took 10 mins to set up after Sam demonstrated it during the hand off. However, the star of the show was definitely the bed slide system that is installed in the back of the truck; including the pull out stove. It made it super easy to access your bins and gear from the bed – I was constantly amazed by how efficient the system was every time I stepped up to the back of the truck.

Though there wasn’t any service, Sam provided a spot GPS tracker which allowed us to contact him or any emergency services had anything gone south – which made us feel very safe.

All in all, I would highly recommend hiring this vehicle not only for how equipped it is, but also for how attentive and knowledgeable the hosts are to make sure that you have the best getaway experience!

A great way to explore Carmanah/Walbran Provincial Park. Driving in Roxanne, I was able to go off the beaten track and enjoy two days of spectacular scenery. After a brilliant day’s hiking, I was able to set up camp outside the park in a remote spot with stunning views over the top of the forest to the ocean. The vehicle was equipped with absolutely everything I needed and the rooftop tent was so easy to set up that I was sitting down with that first cold beer within less than ten minutes. I highly recommend this experience on Vancouver Island.

Fabulous FarOut Experience – Mar 2020

Abbie and Sam were very flexible and wonderful to work with for organizing my trip. Sam greeted me at the airport and familiarized me with all the systems and gear for my excursion. They even crafted a custom trip itinerary and a helpful guide for all my stops. The weather was not favourable, but my trusty stead Roxanne was. The Toyota truck was well stocked with everything you could need for a weekend plus firewood, beer and hot chocolate! The Tepui tent was warm and nicely insulated for many rainy nights. Setup is easier with two, but I made do. Thank you again for a fab time on the island Abbie and Sam. Cheers

A wonderful way to explore Vancouver Island – Jun 2019

We had a great time on our trip with FarOut Wilderness. The truck has a great setup with everything you could need for camping. We loved the rooftop tent – Sam gave us a demo of how it worked when we picked the truck up and we had the tent set up in less than ten minutes. The tent and truck are really comfortable and as the package includes recovery and a GPS locator it feels safe to travel in remote areas. The company are very quick to respond to questions and to help with anything we needed, even offering custom itineraries. Highly recommended!

Explore the wilder side of Vancouver Island – Jul 2019

Put this on your bucket list!! Such a fun way to explore this corner of the world. Give yourself plenty of time…the Island is bigger than you think, but even the drives are stunning. There will be places where you are out of cell service, so be sure your map skills are on point. Sam is a treasure…a knowledgeable and attentive guide available to help with any questions or itinerary advice. Forested mountains, lush glades, big trees, rugged coastline, cobblestone beaches. Highly recommend!

Having this truck made our backroad weekend adventure such a breeze… it was fully equipped with all the things we needed for easy cooking and comfortable sleeping, and the attention to detail – beyond the basics – were very apparent. The tent also withstood a proper West Cost windy downpour on night one. HIGHLY recommend this rental.

We loved the whole experience of working with FarOut Wilderness to support our 6-day trip up and down Vancouver Island. The itinerary they helped craft was extraordinarily helpful. It allowed us to head safely into remote, hard-to-reach landscapes, and then roll comfortably into well-chosen campsites and parks. The modded 4×4 Tacoma was essential for the back roads, as well as perfectly kitted out for our crew of four – and it satisfied the various needs of travelers spanning three generations. We appreciated all of the experience FarOut brought to the outfitting, gear selection, safety, and planning. We all slept and lived well out on the road and would have loved to stay out for another week. We’d work with them again in a heartbeat.

Sam and Abbie are are excellent hosts! They gave us lots of trip options that they scouted beforehand, and a full rundown of the setup before letting us head off. The truck is completely set up for backroad exploring with the family, including the 1 year-old!
