Discover the TRUE meaning of adventure…
The Rally
FarOut Wilderness is hosting an adventure rally in Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island, from October 18th – October 20th, 2024.
The Cowichan Valley is celebrated for its richly diverse terrain. It’s perfect for families, friends and couples looking to experience overland adventure travel and camping in a safe and fun environment.
Over the course of the weekend our 2-day scavenger hunt will put your teamwork and navigational skills to the test, the community will inspire you to start planning your next adventure, and the cosy fireside chats coupled with the delicious home-cooked food will leave you feeling 110% content.
Friday: Arriving in Cowichan
Our fleet of vehicles will depart from Victoria at 12PM on Friday October 18th. We expect to arrive at the beautiful Lake Cowichan campsites at 3PM, where you’ll have a couple of hours to settle in and soak up the beautiful scenery. At 5, we’ll meet in the TrailBlazers den for a refreshment. This will be our social homebase for the rally, giving you a chance to connect with like-minded travellers, enjoy a beverage, and cozy up by our responsibly lit propane fire bits (depending on restrictions).
Saturday: Team Event
Saturday’s itinerary is designed for your team of 2 – 5 people who are keen to solve clues and navigate with the BC Backroads MacBook to checkpoints (there will be child-friendly clues and checkpoints included in the day!). Local businesses will be waiting to support you with your next clue or two and you will be expected to collect photos and tokens along the way.
The route will involve driving on gravel forest service roads and you will need to be comfortable knowing that you will be out of cell-service range. The clues will cumulatively navigate you to our secret camping location. Don’t worry, each team will be provided with an ’emergency’ vault that discloses our camping location should you find yourself led astray. A vehicle with high clearance and at least AWD is mandatory, as are all-season tires.
Sunday: Team Challenge
Sunday’s itinerary is a team choice event, there will be an opportunity to choose a beginner, intermediate or advanced challenge for the day. After a hearty breakfast, and armed with an ‘on-the-go’ lunch your team of 2 – 5 people will be completing a multi-phase challenge that is designed to leave you feeling exhilarated. Upon completion there will be a final rendezvous prior to everyone saying goodbye. As per Saturday, the route will involve adventuring on gravel forest service roads and you will need to be comfortable knowing that you will be out of cell-service range.
