Be sure to check the snow conditions the night before. If you end up at Whistler on a powder day, you’ll be treated to some of the best powder skiing you’ve ever experienced. But that means lift lines can get long! If there’s a big storm, plan to be in line for the gondolas as early at 6:30AM to get first tracks, even though the lifts don’t open until 8:30.

Once you’re done skiing for the evening, it’s time to check out Whistler Village! Explore all the world-class restaurants, bars, and clubs that make the Village as much of a destination as the ski slopes themselves. 

Looking to get away from the crowds and find a less touristy vibe? There’s options for you too! Whistler and Coast Mountain Brewing offer some of the best refreshments, and are just a few minutes outside of the village

Sun Peaks, the SECOND-largest ski resort in Canada, is also a must-visit for your BC ski tour! Sun Peaks spread across multiple mountains, and offers 138 runs with 4,270 skiable acres. It’s known for its short wait times and its family-friendly terrain. 

For beginner and intermediate skiers, it’ll be easier to find groomers to glide down today! The groomers are fun for skiers of all levels! For advanced skiers, the low crowds give you a chance to fly down runs at record speeds. 

There’s a few double black runs off the Crystal and Morrisey chairs for those looking to get more advanced runs in.

Welcome to 5,620 vertical feet of heaven. Revelstoke (Revy, as locals call it), boasts the highest vertical in North America, legendary bowls, and deep powder.

Expert skiers, you’ll want to head straight to “the Stoke” to get your fill of bowls and powder!

There are fewer options here for rookie skiers, so take it easy if you’re new to skiing! Several of the green and blue runs aren’t consistently groomed. Luckily, skiers of all levels can enjoy the 5000+ feet of vertical by skiing the Last Spike, Revy’s longest run.

One of the big draws of Kicking Horse are the nearby Hot Springs! Your legs are bound to be feeling it after a few days of skiing, so you have a chance to take an evening to relax. Our favourite spot is Radium Hot Springs, open until 9PM daily. It’s a great place to recharge once the sun goes down and the ski slopes close.

Ski Pass Information: You can use your Epic Pass, Kicking Horse one of their partner resorts

Panorama is deep in the Rockies, almost 4 hours away from any major city! If you’re looking to get away from the crowds on your BC ski tour, spend more time in the Rockies. Panorama is known for its family friendly atmosphere, wide variety of ski terrain, and its small lift lines.

Today’s a day you’ll want to have the carving skis ready. Panorama is known for its endless supply of corduroy cruisers and piste runs, but has less snowfall than other resorts. If you’re lucky enough to have a powder day at Panorama, you’ll be treated to some of the best tree skiing you see all trip!

Ski Pass Information: Icon Pass

Kimberly is another family friendly resort! Skiers of all levels will be happy with the wide variety of runs. Kimberly boasts an endless supply of both groomers and glades!

The ski map at Kimberly is essentially split in half. All the beginner and intermediate runs are on the NorthStart Mountain. The right side of the resort, especially Black Forest, features the advanced runs. If you’ve got one advanced or one rookie skier in your group, they should be prepared for a solo ski day.

Snow is scarce here, much like with Panorama. Enjoy the bluebird day and the views of the surrounding mountains! Luckily, the cold Canadian Rocky air will keep the snow dry and powdery all season long.

Ski Pass Information: Epic Pass

If your BC ski tour is about finding BC’s best bowls, you’ll want to stop by Fernie! This resort offers 5 bowls, open glades, and a number of runs above the treeline.

Today’s snow might be hit or miss.  Fernie gets pummeled with precipitation every year, but the conditions can range from champagne powder to rain. Locals pay tribute to “Griz”, the local powder king, in hopes of getting the best conditions! Click here to learn more about this local legend.

Ski Pass Information: Epic Pass (Partner Resort)

Self-proclaimed as Canada’s best powder mountain, Whitewater will offer you the most unique ski experience you’d see on your BC ski tour.

Unlike most of the stops on this trip, Whitewater caters primarily to its local community. 4,000 of the 10,000 residents in nearby Nelson buy season’s passes. There’s no cell service on the mountain. It has three iconic old-school chairlifts. 

Before stopping at Whitewater, we highly recommend watching “A Vibe Called Whitewater”. It features the resort’s leaders and locals talking about what makes their mountain so unique. 

Now onto skiing! The resort is split into three mountains. We recommend beginners stick to Silver King, while expert skiers go straight to the bowls on the Summit and Glory Ridge lifts.

Ski Pass Information:

As a community-oriented ski resort, Whitewater stays away from the Icon and Epic passes. Buying online in advance always saves some money, and you’d be able to purchase tickets here.

Beginners, if you’re not looking to ski any bowls, buy a ticket for the Silver Chair only – it’s about half the price!

 

Red Mountain keeps the local community feeling going! There’s 110 runs on Red Mountain, split between family friendly runs, glades, and even cat skiing. 

Red Mountain prides itself in being the oldest ski resort in western Canada, but it keeps expanding and remains “fiercely independent”. Be prepared for some slower chairlifts – it’s part of the old-school charm that defines this resort.

Red Mountain also offers a unique opportunity for cat skiing, a guides type of backcountry skiing. From the top of Grey Mountain, a snowcat (pictured in the image above) will drive you to the top of Mt Kirkup. From there, you’ll have the opportunity to ski through some deep powder in an avalanche-controlled environment. The ride on the snowcat costs you $10, but it’s a one-of-a kind experience in Canada!

Dubbed “Canada’s Favorite Family Resort” Big White is one of the best stops in BC’s interior. Today, you’ll be shredding on Okanagan champagne powder, which locals claim is the best you’ll find on your BC ski tour

Intermediate runs and groomers define these ski slopes – 54% of the runs at Big White are blues. It’s a great day for some carving!

Needed a morning off? Big White is one of the few resorts on this tour to offer night skiing… and it offers the largest night skiing terrain in Canada. Tickets are as cheap as $30 if you want to hit the slopes after the sun sets.
